How to DIY Hand Sanitizer with Fragrance Oils At Home

February 17 2021, 17:21pm

The Coronavirus spread has many products lacking from the shelves of almost all the stores globally, from foodstuff to essential hygiene products like tissue papers and sanitizers.

Well, that should not make you fear because you can also make your hand sanitizers for everybody at home. Yes, you don’t need a laboratory to create an effective sanitizer but will require quality products.

However, bear in mind that your product will not match the high-quality hand sanitizers of thsc.london.

So let’s learn how to make a simple hand sanitizer.

What You Will Need
  • Aloe Vera/ sea salt/ glycerine/ witch hazel/ white vinegar

  • Isopropyl alcohol

  • Fragrance oils in a scent of your choice

  • Measuring cup

  • Bowl

  • Tablespoon

  • Empty container

This is a DIY project for an effective hand cleansing gel and a sweet-smelling product. The fragrance oils of your choice will help you to achieve any scent of your choice according to the variety available-Read more at mecda.org.

Step 1

Put one cup of Aloe Vera and a tablespoon of Isopropyl alcohol into your large bowl. A large bowl is sufficient to hold all the ingredients together without creating a mess to unnecessarily pour on the table.

Aloe Vera is a natural skin moisturizer, while Isopropyl alcohol is for killing germs on your hands.

Mix the two products thoroughly, ensuring a perfect blend by stirring.

Step 2

With your favorite fragrance oil, add about 8-10 drops into your mixture from step one. However, this step is optional if you want a fragrance-free hand sanitizer. Most people with allergies and underlying respiratory conditions should use a scent-free hand cleansing gel to avoid worsening the conditions.

The common essential oils for hand sanitizers are like;

  • Lavender

  • Peppermint

  • Tea tree

  • Lemon

  • Eucalyptus

  • Rosemary

  • Thyme

  • Sweet orange

Step 3

Mix all the ingredients from step one and 2. In case you feel your fragrance is not up to your desired proportion, you can always add more. However, add bit by bit as you mix to avoid adding all at once and creating an over-concentrated blend.

While too much fragrance can be choking and annoying, you also want a scent that will be pleasant to other noses, not only yours. Therefore you need to achieve a perfectly harmonious blend.

Step 4

Even though it is a home-made hand sanitizer, you should look for an attractive and convenient container. Bear in mind that the alcohol is flammable and also evaporates quickly. So, it would be best if you had a good bottle that is easily squeezable and can pour out the cleansing gel effortlessly.

Better still, if you are making hand sanitizer for stepping out, ensure you have a bottle that is the right size for ease of portability.

Therefore, pour out all the ready mixture/ hand sanitizer into your bottle, preferably one with a pump for convenient access to your sanitizer anytime.

Step 5

Your hand sanitizer is as ready as you are. Ensure you carry it with you always in germy and crowded places. Well, you can also go a step further and customize your branding. Nothing beats the proud feeling of making your product so you can and put your name on it.

There you go, making your hand sanitizer at home is not as hard as it may seem. As long as you have ready and desirable ingredients, the process should take less than an hour. Of course, you also need to have the time.
